A little Flashback Friday because apparently I’ve BEEN telling TikTok to mind their business.
Three years ago everybody had an opinion about what I was doing with my daughter’s hair, and I was trying to tell y’all then: one donkey don’t stop no show. You can leave your little comment, get it off your chest, and I’m still gonna do exactly what I was gonna do.
And the funniest part? Fast forward three years and baby girl has a HEAD full of healthy hair. So now I’m watching this old video like ah-haaaaa.
Posting your business on TikTok does not mean you suddenly lose the right to tell somebody to mind theirs. Argue with somebody else.

Looking back on my own experience with managing my daughter's hair, I completely understand the pressure and unsolicited opinions that come from social media platforms like TikTok. When I first started sharing my natural hair journey, many people had strong feelings about what I should or shouldn't do with my child's hair. However, my advice to other parents is clear: trust your instincts and focus on what works for your child’s unique hair type. Over the years, I’ve learned that regular care, patience, and using the right products tailored for natural hair are essential. For instance, keeping the scalp moisturized with gentle, natural oils and avoiding harsh chemicals can prevent breakage and promote healthy growth. Also, protective styles like braids or twists can help minimize damage while still allowing the hair to grow. An important lesson I want to share is that sharing your personal journey doesn’t mean you’re inviting endless critique. It’s about creating a space where you can be proud of your choices and encourage others on similar paths. Social media can be a great source of support if you use it mindfully. If you’re facing similar challenges with your child’s hair care, remember that consistency, confidence, and self-care go a long way. Celebrate every small victory in your natural hair journey and don’t let outside opinions deter you. Ultimately, your child’s healthy hair growth is the best proof that you’re doing something right.
