Things I want to accomplish in December❄️
Happy December 1st, everyone! This month always feels like a crucial time to tie up loose ends and set the stage for a fantastic new year. Inspired by my own list of things I want to accomplish by the end of the year, I wanted to share some thoughts on how to make your December goals truly happen. First off, don't overwhelm yourself! It's easy to look at the short month and think you need to do *everything*. Instead, choose a few key areas, just like I focus on my 'author' goals and 'human' goals. For my author self, finishing those two rounds of edits and critiquing a full manuscript are top priorities. Breaking these big tasks down into smaller, daily chunks makes them much less daunting. Maybe it’s just 30 minutes of editing each morning, or dedicating a specific day to critiquing. Remember, consistency beats intensity when it comes to creative projects. It's truly satisfying to see progress on something as significant as a manuscript as the 'end of the year' approaches. Then there are the 'human' goals, which often focus on well-being and joy. For me, that means making sure I 'read 10 books before the end' of the year. I’ve found that having a cozy reading nook and setting aside dedicated time, even if it's just before bed, really helps. It’s not just about hitting a number; it’s about unwinding and engaging with stories. And speaking of books, starting a 'TBR jar for the new year' is such a fun idea I'm trying! It’s a great way to collect all those 'books to suggest' from friends and social media, ensuring I always have something exciting to pick up. This also takes the pressure off finding new reads in the busy holiday season. Physical activity is another big one. I'm aiming to 'walk my dog more' (he loves it!) and try to 'walk or bike 5 miles/day'. The key here is consistency, even when it’s chilly. Layering up and having a great playlist or podcast can make all the difference. Plus, it's a wonderful way to clear your head and stay energized during what can be a hectic month. Don't underestimate the power of fresh air! Even if you can't hit 5 miles every day, any movement helps you feel more accomplished and less stressed. And let's not forget the fun, festive parts! Baking a 'bunch of holiday cookies' is on my list, and it's something I look forward to every year. It’s a perfect way to unwind, get into the holiday spirit, and spread some cheer. These kinds of goals, while seemingly small, contribute so much to our overall happiness and sense of accomplishment. They provide a much-needed break from more demanding tasks. The biggest tip I can offer for achieving your December goals is to make them visible and actionable. Write them down, stick them on your fridge, or use a planner. Seeing them regularly keeps them top of mind. And don't be afraid to adjust! Life happens, and it's okay if you don't hit every single target perfectly. The important thing is the effort and the intention to finish the year strong and ready for new adventures in the 'new year'. Setting these smaller, achievable goals now truly sets the foundation for bigger aspirations. What are some of your must-do December activities or goals?
