Early morning runs, like the 10-mile 1 hour 46-minute pace I recently completed, offer a quiet time for reflection and mental clarity. I rely on reliable gear to keep me comfortable and motivated—shoes from Brooks Running are a game changer, providing excellent support and cushioning over long distances. Fueling my runs properly is also crucial. I find that Ucan energy gels and Nerds Clusters give me the sustained energy I need without feeling weighed down. Tracking my runs on Strava helps me stay motivated by monitoring my distance, pace, and improvements over time. This combination of the right gear, nutrition, and feedback keeps my running routine sustainable and therapeutic. Running also pushes me to challenge myself both mentally and physically. When fatigue sets in, I learn to manage discomfort and maintain focus—skills that extend off the trail into everyday life. If you’ve never tried using running as a mental health tool, I highly recommend starting with short runs and tracking your progress. The physical benefits are obvious, but the mental peace and sense of accomplishment can be truly transformative.
