Soba Noodle Azuma in Fort Lee, NJ
Second time dining at Soba Noodle Azuma in Fort Lee, NJ, both were stops on our way back from a long road trip. Our go-to entree is the udon or soba noodle soup with salmon and roe over rice meal set. Steve, my elder one and myself all order it 😋. Their appetizers are also decently priced and delish! They have a location in NYC as well apparently! It’s a must try!
After discovering Soba Noodle Azuma in Fort Lee, NJ, it's quickly become one of my favorite Japanese spots, especially when I'm looking for a comforting and satisfying meal. My family and I have made it our go-to stop on road trips, and each visit just confirms why it’s a must-try. The star of the show for us is always their udon or soba noodle soup, particularly when paired with the salmon and roe meal set. The broth itself is a masterpiece – deeply savory, perfectly seasoned, and incredibly comforting, exactly what you crave after a long journey. The noodles, whether you opt for the thick, chewy udon or the delicate, nutty soba, are always cooked to perfection. And the addition of fresh salmon and glistening roe elevates the entire dish, adding a burst of flavor and texture that’s simply delightful. It’s a complete meal that truly nourishes both body and soul. Beyond the incredible noodle soups, their appetizer menu is where you find some real hidden gems. On my last visit, we branched out and tried a few more things, and I was so impressed by the variety and quality for the price. The menu board, which I remember seeing had options like "Deep Fried Octopus Balls" (Takoyaki) and "Sauteed Corn w/ Butter," offers fantastic starting points. The Takoyaki, served with Tar Tar Sauce, was perfectly crispy on the outside and wonderfully gooey inside, a true delight for any Japanese street food lover. And for something a bit different, the "Fried Chicken W/Mayonnaise&Ponzu" (Tori Mayo Ponzu) was incredibly flavorful, with a tangy kick from the ponzu that balanced the richness of the chicken. We also noticed options like "Wasabi Marinated Octopus" and various "Cutlet" dishes, which I'm eager to try next time. I saw some appetizers priced around $5.75, $4.75, and $5.50, which really highlights the great value you get here for such authentic flavors. What I love most about Azuma is the consistency and the feeling of genuine Japanese comfort food. Whether you're craving a warm bowl of noodles or want to explore some delicious small plates, they truly deliver. It’s the kind of place where you leave feeling happy and fully satisfied without breaking the bank. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, making it perfect for families or a relaxed meal after a long drive. It’s easy to see why they also have a location in NYC – their reputation clearly precedes them. Finding a place that consistently serves high-quality soba and udon can be tricky, but Azuma, located conveniently at 246 Main St, Fort Lee, NJ 07024, has certainly mastered it. It's not just a restaurant; it’s an experience that transports you, even for a moment, to a cozy corner of Japan. So, if you're ever in the Fort Lee or even the broader New Jersey area and a craving for authentic Japanese noodles or delightful appetizers strikes, do yourself a favor and stop by Soba Noodle Azuma. You won't regret it!
