Whenever I’m feeling low, I remind myself of Lazarus.

His story is still one of the most unbelievable things I’ve ever lived through. There were so many moments where he shouldn’t have made it, and somehow he did. He came back from something that looked impossible, learned to walk again, and in the middle of all that, he changed me too.

Then there was the time he disappeared. Six weeks of not knowing, of trying to accept that he might be gone. And then he came back again, when I had already started to lose hope.

I still don’t fully understand it. I just know I lived it.

So when things feel heavy or uncertain, I go back to that. Because if that could happen, then maybe things aren’t as impossible as they feel. Maybe there’s more hope here than we can see in the moment. #RescueAnimal #FarmAnimal #AngusBull #Petbull #AnimalSoulmate

... Read moreRescuing an animal like Lazarus is truly a life-changing experience. From my own encounters with rescue animals, I’ve learned that patience and unwavering commitment are vital, especially when the animal has suffered severe injuries like Lazarus did with necrotic skin requiring daily treatment. What stands out most is how an animal’s spirit can inspire us to keep going even when the odds seem insurmountable. During Lazarus’s disappearance, the emotional toll was immense—searching every day on foot and by truck, reaching out to neighbors and local stock yards, hoping for a sign. It reminded me of how important community support is in animal rescue efforts. Having a network to raise awareness can increase the chances of a lost animal returning safely. When Lazarus ultimately returned, it wasn’t just a relief—it was a profound reminder that miracles do happen. This experience taught me a lot about resilience, both his and mine. Life can throw unexpected challenges at us, but stories like his reaffirm that hope and perseverance can lead to recovery and even transformation. For anyone taking care of a rescued farm animal, it’s essential to recognize the importance of veterinary care, consistent wound management, and giving the animal space and time to heal mentally and physically. Animals often reflect the emotional energy of their caretakers, so staying calm and positive can significantly affect their recovery. Ultimately, Lazarus became more than just an Angus bull; he became a soulmate who showed me that when situations feel impossible, we should hold on to hope because sometimes, the most unbelievable recoveries happen against all odds.

The reason I make art
