🇲🇾 Malaysia Tiles Really Cheaper?! 👀

🇲🇾 Cheaper Tiles in JB… But There’s a Catch 👀

Okay! We went to Jubin BMS in JB because we wanted to see if buying tiles from Malaysia was actually worth it.

And honestly? The prices surprised us. 😂

For comparison, some of the more affordable tiles we saw at Hafary were around S$3.50 psf.

At BMS, we saw tiles starting from around RM5+, with others around RM17+ per piece, depending on the size, design and origin. They carry A LOT of designs too — from simple tiles to marble-look, wood-look and even super atas patterns. 😂

⚠️ Prices are based on our visit in May last year, so they may have changed!

So… why didn't we buy from JB?

Convenience. 😂

With a local supplier, usually your ID/contractor can help calculate the quantity, order the tiles and coordinate delivery.

Buying from Malaysia means you'll need to be more hands-on with:

• Quantity & wastage

• Shipping/delivery to Singapore

• GST & applicable charges

• Coordinating with your ID/contractor

And imagine your tiler suddenly says…

“Not enough tiles.” 💀

Now you need to arrange another order from Malaysia while reno is ongoing. HAHAHA.

So yes — BMS can definitely be more affordable, and I think it's worth checking out if you don't mind doing the extra coordination.

But ultimately?

💰 Save money vs save hassle.

Which one would you choose? 👀

... Read moreWhen considering purchasing tiles from Malaysia, especially from a supplier like Jubin BMS in Johor Bahru, I found that the variety of styles and colors available is impressive. The store offers everything from simple, cost-effective designs to luxurious marble-look and wood-look tiles, making it easier to find options that fit both budget and aesthetic preferences. One key insight is the importance of planning your tile order precisely. Because buying from JB involves cross-border coordination, any miscalculation in tile quantity can lead to significant delays and extra costs. For example, if your tiler runs out mid-renovation, arranging another delivery from Malaysia is cumbersome and time-consuming. Another factor to consider is the total cost including GST and shipping fees. While the base price per tile in Malaysia may be lower—some as affordable as RM5+ per piece—the added logistics can offset savings. Many homeowners share that unless you have experience managing imports or a contractor who can handle these details, the convenience of buying locally in Singapore, despite slightly higher prices, often wins. From personal experience, visiting Jubin BMS gave me a clear look at their extensive tile collection, which could inspire unique design choices. Their warm-toned marble-effect tiles, for instance, create a cozy yet upscale vibe in living spaces. However, the catch remains the additional effort to coordinate delivery and customs. Ultimately, if you enjoy managing your renovation details and want to explore more affordable tile options, JB's Jubin BMS is worth checking out. But if you prefer a hassle-free process with local suppliers handling everything, paying a bit more might provide greater peace of mind. This trade-off between saving money and saving hassle is something every renovator should weigh based on their project timeline and experience.
