Funny… But Not Funny: I Haven’t Slept Right in Decades 😳
Funny… but not funny.
I am officially at that age now too.
Did a sleep apnea test at home… wires on my chest, monitor on my finger, tubes in my nose… the whole setup 😂
Took it back the next day and asked,
“Hey, did you get what you needed?”
She looked at me and said…
“Oh yeah… we got plenty.”
😳
That one stuck with me.
Because the truth is… I probably haven’t slept right in decades.
And while that might sound funny — it’s not.
If your sleep is off
your energy is off
your mood is off
your health is off
your life is off
We grind, we push, we chase goals…
but if you’re not recovering, you’re losing.
This is part of my journey right now — getting my health right, getting aligned, becoming the best version of myself.
Because how you show up matters.
Get your sleep right. It’s the foundation.
Day by day. Brick by brick.

I've experienced firsthand how neglecting proper sleep can slowly drain your vitality over the years. Sleep apnea, a condition where breathing repeatedly stops and starts during sleep, often goes undiagnosed, affecting millions. The home sleep apnea test, which I recently underwent, uses simple yet effective devices like chest sensors, finger monitors, and nasal tubes to track your sleep quality in the comfort of your home. While it sounds daunting to have wires and tubes attached, this approach provides crucial data that traditional sleep labs might miss. Poor sleep affects much more than just feeling tired; it disturbs your energy levels, mood stability, cognitive function, and long-term health outcomes like heart disease and diabetes. I realized that pushing through chronic fatigue without addressing its root cause only leads to deteriorating health and diminished quality of life. Starting this health journey was a turning point. I recommitted to prioritizing recovery and self-care daily, understanding that sleep is the foundation upon which everything else builds. Reframing sleep issues from a source of frustration to a vital health signal transformed my mindset. Sharing my story encourages others not to ignore their sleep challenges, especially as we age. Being aware of symptoms like loud snoring, daytime drowsiness, or frequent awakening can prompt timely testing and interventions. Remember, it’s not just about getting enough hours, but about the quality and restorative nature of sleep. Treatments for sleep apnea, including CPAP machines, lifestyle modifications, and medical guidance, can significantly improve one’s health and outlook. Taking action might feel uncomfortable at first, but the benefits ripple through all aspects of life—from energy and mood to productivity and resilience. For anyone out there who feels like they haven’t truly slept right in years, know that change is possible. Start small, listen to your body, and seek help if needed. Your health journey matters, and sleep is one of the most powerful tools to set you on the path to becoming the best version of yourself.
