Barbara redesign

Hey Genshin Impact fans! I’m so excited to share a little passion project I’ve been working on: my very own Barbara redesign concept. As much as I adore Barbara, the Shining Idol of Mondstadt, I’ve often wondered what she might look like with a slightly different aesthetic, perhaps one that leans more into her role as a Deaconess or even her aspirations to be a 'Rock Steady Adventurer' like her sister, Jean! Her original outfit is iconic, no doubt. The blue and white, the frills, the hat – it all screams 'idol' and perfectly captures her cheerful, optimistic persona. But sometimes, I feel like it could use a refresh to highlight other facets of her personality or journey within Genshin Impact. For my redesign, I really thought deeply about her rich lore. She's not just a bubbly idol; she's also a devoted and diligent healer, working tirelessly for the church, and she possesses a hidden strength and determination that often gets overlooked. She constantly strives to live up to her big sister's example, which adds another layer to her character. I imagined a design that keeps her signature colors but perhaps with a more practical yet still elegant silhouette. Instead of the very short skirt, I considered something with a bit more length, maybe a layered look that allows for easier movement during her healing duties or even when she's out exploring. I also thought about adding some subtle adventurer elements in her accessories, like a small, ornate utility pouch for her healing supplies, or more durable-looking boots that hint at her desire to be a 'Rock Steady Adventurer.' I even played with her headwear, thinking a more structured, perhaps slightly asymmetrical, bow or headpiece could give her a fresh, modern edge while retaining her sweet charm. I also considered incorporating subtle motifs inspired by her hydro vision, subtly woven into the fabric or as detailing on her gloves. The idea was to create something that feels like an evolution, a 'Barbara 2.0' that still feels distinctly her, but with an added layer of maturity or readiness for adventure. When thinking about her 'Rock Steady Adventurer' title, it made me ponder how her uniform might adapt if she truly embraced that path. Would she still wear all the frills, or would she opt for a more streamlined, but equally charming, outfit? I tried to blend her idol persona with her compassionate healer side and a hint of that adventurous spirit, showing her growth and determination. This kind of visual change could really reflect her personal journey within the game's narrative. This whole process has been super fun, and I'd love to hear what you all think about character redesigns in Genshin Impact. Have you ever wished a character had a different look?
