Broke up over cooking
So my boyfriend told me he plans to eat at his mom’s house every night because he “doesn’t want to cook for himself” after his long days working from home. Meanwhile I’m 27, working 12-hour shifts, and I’ve been cooking for myself for years.
I don’t mind cooking for a partner, but the way he said it felt like he’d never even try. It gave me the vibe that if we lived together, all the cooking would fall on me… and honestly that’s a deal-breaker.
I’m torn though — would I be wrong if I just straight up told him (via text) that I’m breaking up because of this? Or is it nicer to just say “it’s not you, it’s me”?
This is his first relationship too, which makes me feel a little guilty. But I also feel like I should be honest…
What would you do in my situation?

My husband and I have been together for close to 50 years. We have worked through easy and hard times. Now he is very sick. My heartfelt advice. Pick your battles, decide what’s really important. The day may come when you need each other in a different way that is more important than dinner.
