✨ The Midnight Library book review
When life has millions of choices, but happiness is right in front of it.
.
If anyone ever had the type feeling, "I know that..."Or," If that day had chosen the other way around, life would have been better. "Matt Haig's book The Midnight Library is the best friend to help slap your shoulders and pull your sanity at the start of this new year.
The story tells of Nora Seed, a woman who felt that she had failed in every way to end her life, but she slipped into a "midnight library" where each book was a different version of her life that she could have been if she had chosen a different choice in the past.
She tried to be a famous singer, an Olympic athlete, a polar geologist, or even a small-town housewife to find the "most perfect life."
But the truth of life that Nora discovered.....
.
1. No life is "perfect."
In every version Nora tried, even the most successful (rich, famous) version, she still experienced pain, disappointment, or other forms of trouble.
This makes us realize that we often see only the advantages of the way we do not choose, but often forget that there is also a price to pay. There is no life with Gain without Pain.
.
2. "Regret" is too heavy baggage.
There will be a "book of regret" that includes everything Nora ever regretted, which is so heavy that she can barely lift it.
In fact, being caught up in the past hovers around the question, "What if we choose to do it?.."This gives us no strength to move to the future. Always realize that what has happened is history, but what we choose to do today is the only thing that really affects life today.
.
3. The power of "small things"
Nora discovered that her small actions in a normal life (such as helping to teach the children next door the piano or being kind to strangers) had a bigger impact on other people than she thought.
You too, you don't have to be a world-class person to mean anything to the world. Just being kind and doing your best is worth a lot.
.
📌 Conclusion:
You don't have to be the perfect "New Me." All right.
.
During the New Year, we are often pressured to be "The Best Version," to be better, to be richer, to be better.
But The Midnight Library is trying to tell us,
"You don't have to be everything you want to be in order to be happy." You just have to be "yourself" who is satisfied with the present and brave to try new things without fear of mistakes.
In 2026, instead of trying to be a perfect new person, try to be "the same person who loves himself more" and be happy with what's in front of you, because maybe "the most wonderful life" is the life you're using right now, but you can't see it yet. 😉
.
You don't have to understand life.
You just have to live it.
You don't have to understand life.
You just have to use it.
.
Happy New Year. 🎉
Wish everyone a happy year in their own way.
