God of Malice - book review!
Killian Carson is exactly the monster he’s described to be in the book synopsis. If you can’t handle a morally black character, this is not the book for you. That being said, I loved this book.
Killian and Glyndon meet in a very disturbing and unsettling way at the beginning, which immediately hooked me and made me want to know more. Killian doesn’t feel emotions like normal people—he’s a psychopath. Over the years, he has learned how to act in ways that make people happy, but he doesn’t actually care about them or their feelings. He can’t. He has strong urges to kill, to look inside people, but he has spent his entire life resisting and repressing those impulses.
Glyndon is the youngest of three siblings. Her mother is a famous artist, and both she and her brother are involved in art as well. However, Glyndon feels her talent pales in comparison to her family’s. She also has a complicated relationship with her brothers. Brandon is her best friend, someone she can always talk to, while Landon is the complete opposite. Like Killian, he knows exactly what people want to hear and can craft a convincing story, but underneath it all, he also has psychopathic tendencies.
Even though Killian and Glyndon make absolutely no sense together on paper, they are perfect for each other. She is the only one who truly understands how Killian’s brain works—the only person who has ever taken the time to see him for who he is rather than writing him off as broken or wrong. She is also the only person for whom he sets aside his devilish nature. He lets her in, showing her more of himself than anyone else has ever seen.
