COFFEE TIME ☕️🎀

Been loving my morning coffee a little bit more recently.

... Read moreMy journey to the perfect cup of coffee has been quite an adventure, and I've learned so much about different brewing methods that completely transform my daily coffee time! It's not just about the beans; how you brew them makes a huge difference in taste, aroma, and overall experience. If you're wondering what are the best coffee brewing methods and their differences, let me share my insights to help you find your ideal brew. 1. Pour Over (e.g., Hario V60, Chemex) This method is all about precision and showcasing the nuanced flavors of specialty beans. You pour hot water slowly and evenly over coffee grounds in a cone-shaped filter. How it works: Hot water drips through grounds, extracting flavors into a carafe below. Differences: Produces a clean, bright, and aromatic cup with a light body. It really highlights the acidity and floral notes. My take: It requires a bit more patience and technique, but the resulting clarity in flavor is just *chef's kiss*. Perfect for when I want to truly appreciate a single-origin bean. 2. French Press A classic for a reason! The French press steeps coarse grounds directly in hot water, then separates them with a plunger. How it works: Full immersion brewing, grounds steep for a few minutes before being pressed down. Differences: Delivers a rich, full-bodied cup with a velvety texture and more sediment, which some love for its robust flavor. It brings out the bolder, darker notes of coffee. My take: This is my go-to when I crave a strong, comforting cup, especially with milk. It’s super forgiving and doesn't require fancy equipment. 3. Espresso The base for lattes, cappuccinos, and so much more! Espresso uses finely ground coffee and forces hot, pressurized water through it. How it works: High pressure extraction over a short period. Differences: Creates a highly concentrated shot with a thick, reddish-brown foam on top called crema. It's intense, complex, and has a very distinct mouthfeel. My take: While I don't have a professional machine at home, my Moka pot gives me a delicious, strong coffee that’s close enough for my morning milk-based drinks. It's a game-changer for those who love strong coffee. 4. AeroPress A versatile and compact brewer that’s a favorite among travelers and coffee enthusiasts alike. How it works: Combines immersion and pressure, using a plunger to force coffee through a filter. Differences: Can produce anything from an espresso-like concentrate to a full-bodied cup, depending on your recipe. It's known for its clean taste and low acidity. My take: I love how quick and easy it is to clean, and the results are consistently smooth. Plus, it’s tiny enough to take anywhere! 5. Cold Brew Not exactly a "hot" brewing method, but definitely a popular one for a different kind of coffee time! How it works: Coarsely ground coffee is steeped in cold water for 12-24 hours. Differences: Results in a smooth, low-acid concentrate that's naturally sweet and less bitter than traditional hot-brewed coffee. It’s perfect over ice or diluted with water/milk. My take: In the summer, this is my absolute savior! The preparation takes time, but the hands-on effort is minimal, and the refreshing result is totally worth it. So, which method is best for you? It really depends on your taste preferences, how much time you have, and what kind of equipment you're willing to invest in. If you love a bright, clean cup, try pour over. For a rich, bold experience, French press is fantastic. If you're after a strong base for milk drinks, espresso (or a Moka pot) is key. For versatility and convenience, AeroPress shines, and for a smooth, refreshing treat, cold brew is unbeatable. Don't be afraid to experiment – that's half the fun of discovering your perfect cup!

There’s nothing better than a 4PM pick me up after being snowed in with a baby for 2 days. One of my all time favorite coffee flavors is lavender, there’s just something so cozy and calming about it. I normally prefer iced coffee but since it’s been snowing and its nippy I’m really feeling the
