Experience Lisbon for under $8

Lisbon is such an affordable city and so great for budget travelers - even the “touristy” things are not that expensive. Below are some of the touristy things I think are actually worth a try! Save these for your next trip!

🚋 Ride the 28 Tram (€3)

This is a great way to see the all the best areas of the city - just make sure to be at Martim Moniz early to avoid the crazy line. If you get on the tram from other stops, it’s like you’ll be standing and have no view to the outside.

🚋 Have a shot of Ginjinha (€1.5)

You’ll find this liqueur in several places but we went to the famous A Ginjinha shop!

🚋 Santa Justa Lift (€1.5)

I would definitely ride the elevator just to experience the inside - but personally wouldn’t get on a queue longer than 10 people as you can climb up the back street for free to get to the upper deck.

🚋 Try a Pastéis de Belém (€1.4)

If you had space for only ONE pastel de nata let it be this one!

With its historic architecture, lively atmosphere, and affordable attractions, exploring this city doesn’t have to be expensive. Start your day with a journey on Tram 28. Known for its scenic route, the tram passes through many of the city’s most well-loved neighborhoods, including Alfama and Baixa. While the ticket is only €3, arriving early at Martim Moniz ensures a good seat and a picturesque view. Next, indulge in a glass of Ginjinha, a cherry liqueur that costs about €1.5. This local favorite can be found at various taverns, but make sure to visit A Ginjinha for an authentic experience. Another budget-friendly attraction is the Santa Justa Lift, where for just €1.5, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the city. Although lines can be long, considering an alternative walk up the nearby hillside provides equally stunning vistas without the wait. Lastly, no visit to Lisbon is complete without sampling the renowned Pastéis de Belém. For around €1.4, savoring this pastry at its birthplace is a delightful way to end your day. Explore the charming streets of Belém and take in sights like the Belém Tower. Overall, Lisbon offers plenty of unique, affordable experiences that enrich your visit while keeping costs low.
