Replying to @Hope Ferdabest Some people are so evolved being on the receiving end of these apologies that they understand what this manipulation is. They have been through it with a covert narcissist, and they understand they’re lying because they’ve seen and accepted it. Some people haven’t gotten to that point, and some people choose to believe the lies until no end. Some people can’t even fathom that others can lie so well. #narcissisticabuse #narcissist #narcissism #npd #abuse

... Read moreFrom my experience, dealing with a covert narcissist's apologies often feels like an endless loop of repeated phrases or borrowed words that never truly address the issue at hand. It's crucial to understand that these apologies are often a manipulation tactic rather than genuine remorse. Many people initially struggle to see through this cycle because the words sound sincere, but their repetitive nature and lack of meaningful change reveal the truth. Recognizing this pattern is a key step in protecting your emotional well-being. It took me a long time to accept that a covert narcissist’s apologies are more about control than accountability. Once you acknowledge this, you can differentiate between genuine attempts at change and manipulative behaviors. It’s also common for some to choose to believe these repeated apologies, as it can be difficult to grasp that someone could lie so convincingly. For those affected by narcissistic abuse, understanding the nuances of covert narcissism and the insidious nature of their half-hearted apologies is empowering. It helps to connect with communities or resources focused on narcissistic abuse (#narcissisticabuse, #npd) where shared experiences foster clarity and healing. Remember, recognizing these signs is a form of self-care and a vital step toward recovery and establishing healthier relationships.
