READING HELPS WITH MY ANXIETY 🫶🏾✨

When I first wake up in the morning my anxiety is on 100!! I have been exploring ways to help with it. Starting a morning routine of waking up at 6AM to start my day before having to clock in at work is giving me hope. During that time I try to read a couple of chapters out of my weekly read.

This week , “A Novel Love Story” by Ashley Poston was my pick!

I finished it this morning but I must say it was a great read!

Everybody wants a happily ever after 🥰

... Read moreI know that crushing feeling of waking up, and before your feet even hit the floor, your mind is already racing with worry. It’s like anxiety hits 100 before the day even begins, and finding ways to quiet that noise has been a personal mission. While my current favorite, 'A Novel Love Story' by Ashley Poston, has been a fantastic companion, I've learned that it's not just what you read, but how you integrate it into your morning that truly makes a difference. For me, dedicating those early morning hours to a book isn't just about escaping reality; it's a mindful practice. The act of focusing on words on a page, letting a story unfold, pulls my attention away from anxious thoughts and grounds me in the present. It's a gentle way to wake up my brain without immediately engaging with the day's stressors. I've found that light fiction, especially romance or heartwarming tales by talented novelists, works wonders. When choosing a new book, I often look for covers that immediately draw me in—like a beautiful blue cover with vibrant yellow and pink text, or charming illustrations of figures enjoying a peaceful scene, perhaps even accented with decorative flower stickers. These visual cues often hint at the kind of uplifting and engaging story I need to start my day. Beyond just reading, I've discovered a few other elements that truly amplify my morning routine for reducing anxiety. Hydration is key; a glass of water before anything else. Then, a few minutes of gentle stretching or deep breathing can release some of that stored tension. I also love journaling for a few minutes, just to clear my head before diving into my chapters. Creating a cozy reading nook, maybe with a soft, textured blanket, makes the experience even more inviting. The key is consistency and personalization. It took me a while to find what truly resonated, but sticking to a routine, even on weekends, has been transformative. Don't feel pressured to read a specific genre; explore what truly brings you joy and calm. Whether it's historical fiction, a gripping mystery, or a beautifully written contemporary novel, the goal is to find authors whose storytelling can transport you. If you're struggling with morning anxiety, I highly encourage experimenting with your own routine. Start small – even 15-20 minutes of reading can make a huge difference. Put your phone away, brew a warm drink, and let a good book be your first companion of the day. It’s a simple, yet powerful way to reclaim your mornings and reduce anxiety. Give yourself that peaceful start, and you might be surprised how much calmer and more focused you feel throughout the entire day.
