Fighting something invisible
That part of you, on the inside of you, maybe somewhere in the infrastructure of your soul, that makes you feel bad when you do something mean or stupid. This part of you is called your conscience. It is a system by which we are innately made aware of God’s laws even before we ever read about them or are taught them. When your conscience wrestles with you over a bad decision you have made, the way to win in this match is to let your conscience win. Let it make you sorry and lead you to seek forgiveness. To wrestle and win against your conscience is to lose, and even worse, you could weaken your conscience, and the result is that you become a very evil person. Jesus came so that we can be forgiven of all the bad things that our conscience tells us we have done. He died so that our conscience can see us and say, today I have no fight with you. That means you would say, “my conscience is clear.”
