There’s something so wrong with me...

I’m jealous of an actual 18 yo and I hate every second of it. She started struggling with a mental disorder when she was 9, but she’s doing better now. She’s got a spot with the kid’s mental health team, adults who actually believe her.

But when I was her age, I was drowning. No one in my corner. Not a single person believed me when I said something was off. I just had to shove it all down and power through. And here I am, still struggling now.

Watching her get everything I begged for back then, it makes me feel even more invisible. I’m actually glad she’s getting that help. But I can’t shake this jealous feeling. Why didn’t anyone care when I was screaming for it? Why didn’t anyone listen?

It’s such a gross emotion...

... Read moreIt's understandable to feel a complicated mix of emotions when reflecting on one's own mental health struggles, especially when comparing them to others who may be receiving the support and care you longed for in the past. Jealousy, while often considered a negative emotion, is a natural response tied to the deep wish for validation and assistance during difficult times. Many people who struggled with eating disorders or other mental health issues as children faced disbelief or neglect, which can lead to lasting feelings of invisibility and isolation. When no one acknowledges your pain, the burden of coping often falls solely on yourself, creating layers of unresolved trauma that may persist into adulthood. The expression "Please don't weigh me unless it's medically necessary" from the OCR text highlights an important aspect of mental health care—respect and consent concerning sensitive issues like weighing in eating disorder treatment. Advocates emphasize compassionate care that prioritizes the patient's feelings and dignity rather than rigid clinical routines that might cause distress. Receiving support from professionals who listen and believe you is crucial in healing. Having access to a mental health team that offers understanding can make a profound difference, as seen in the 12-year-old's progress mentioned in the article. This points to improved awareness and resources for children's mental health which, sadly, were less accessible or attuned in previous years. If you are struggling with feelings of jealousy or pain related to your own mental health history, remember that these emotions are valid and signal a need for self-compassion and perhaps new support opportunities. Reaching out to trusted counselors, support groups, or online communities can help break the silence and foster a sense of belonging and hope. Sharing your story honestly, as this article does, also helps reduce stigma and connect with others who may feel similarly invisible or unheard. Over time, transforming these difficult feelings into conversations can empower healing not just for yourself but for others facing similar challenges. Remember, your feelings are real, and it’s never too late to seek support and understanding.

youre not jealous of her truly. youre hurt that you didnt have this when you deserved it. it does feel gross because it can mix with resentment towards her but thats not it. its pain for younger you because it wasnt fair for you to not get that when you deserved it

i’m jealous at how eating disorders are taken seriously if you’re skinny but because i’m fat, no matter which direction my disorder is going (cuz i’ve been through a few of them for significant lengths of time) nobody cares cuz i’m either losing weight so that’s great or i’m gaining so that’s unacceptable. one time i lost weight because i had unbearable gi problems and pain and they WOULDN’T SEND ME TO A SPECIALIST CUZ “at least i was losing weight.” i was 16 and it was my pediatrician.

I'm the kind of person who wants to plan activities at least a couple of days in advance. I want to know what we will do, when we will do it, and how long we will (roughly) do it for (because it makes a difference whether I'm home at 8PM or 2AM). It eases my anxiety because it gives me time

IS THERE SOMETHING WRONG WITH ME?!
I get people genuinely care about your wellbeing. I get that I’m extremely introverted. I share but on my terms so i selfishly share?.. Granted, i may be guilty of this too but is there such a thing as being too invasive? If a person wanted you to know something they would tell you? But

Something I hate -
Every single person in my life has called me sensitive since I was young. I used to think there was something wrong with me and held my feelings in and kept them to my self. Which lead to so many people taking advantage of me and mistreating me without me saying anything. You are trying to tell me
