That feeling I described, of my heart finding its new reason to beat, is something so many of us Gigi's experience. From the moment I held that sleeping newborn baby, my entire perspective shifted. But amidst all that pure love and joy, the cuddles, and the endless wonder, it's easy to find yourself pouring out so much love that you forget to replenish your own cup. I’ve learned firsthand that to truly foster that deep bond and love with my grandbaby and be the best Gigi I can be, nurturing myself is just as crucial. So, to all the other amazing grandmas and Gigi’s out there – or those who are about to embark on this beautiful journey – let’s talk a little about self-care. It's not selfish; it’s absolutely essential! For me, even just ten minutes of quiet with a warm cup of tea, perhaps looking at cherished photos of my sweet grandbaby, can recharge my soul. Sometimes it's a gentle walk in the park, enjoying nature and letting my mind wander, or listening to a favorite podcast. It’s about finding those small pockets of peace. Remember, our grandbabies deserve us at our best, and that means being rested, present, and joyful ourselves. Don't hesitate to ask your children or partner for a little help so you can snatch a moment for a warm bath, get lost in a good book, or simply enjoy some uninterrupted 'me' time. Gentle stretches or light yoga can also work wonders for those tired muscles from rocking little ones! And speaking of cherishing this new role, if you’re wondering about 'Gigi gifts' – either for a special Gigi in your life, or perhaps ideas for yourself – I have a few thoughts that come from the heart. Personalized gifts are always incredibly meaningful.
