Your nervous system thinks uncertainty means the business is failing.

It's not - it's evolving. So are you.

Anna Lozano built a company from Kickstarter to a full exit. And then she fell into what she calls the void - the space between who she was while building and who she's becoming now.

She said something in this conversation that I haven't stopped thinking about: mindset work is about 10% of our actual growth. The rest lives in the body.

We go deep on nervous system regulation, identity after a big ending, worst-case scenarios, and why intentional uncertainty is actually the practice, not the problem.

... Read moreNavigating the space of uncertainty after a big transition, such as exiting a business, can feel like falling into a void where your old identity no longer fits, and your new self is not fully formed yet. From my own experience and reflections inspired by Anna Lozano’s story, this gap is where true growth happens, but it’s often invisible and non-linear. Our nervous system plays a crucial role in this process because it governs how we respond to stress, ambiguity, and new challenges. When the nervous system interprets uncertainty as danger, it triggers a fight-or-flight response that can shut down creativity and clarity. However, learning to regulate this response through practices such as breathwork, mindful movement, or grounding techniques can help us stay present and open to change. What struck me most is the idea that mindset work only accounts for about 10% of the transformation. The remaining 90% lives in the body, in how we physically embody new identities and possibilities. This means that alongside intellectual reframing, we need to engage with our physical sensations and emotions to truly integrate change. Intentional uncertainty becomes a practice rather than a problem when we cultivate curiosity about the unknown instead of resistance. By embracing uncertainty as a natural and essential part of evolution—not just in business but in ourselves—we create space for new growth that aligns authentically with who we are becoming. For those facing similar crossroads, I recommend exploring nervous system regulation tools and viewing uncertainty as a practiced state rather than a crisis. It’s like rewiring the brain and body to find safety within change. This approach transforms the void from a fearful place to fertile ground for reinvention and empowerment.
