What 100 Pushups a Day Did to My Body

I couldn't do three real pushups. My arms were soft, my posture was wrecked from hunching over my phone, and most nights I scrolled in bed until 1am instead of sleeping.

So I made one rule: no phone in the morning until I finished 100 pushups on my living room floor. That was the entire plan.

Week 1 I had to break them into tiny sets. By week 2, 100 felt easy and my arms were already tighter. By week 4 my posture had straightened out and I stopped reaching for my phone the second I woke up.

The only reason I didn't quit was the streak. I logged every single morning in Repscroll, and watching that number climb made skipping a day feel impossible. 60 days in, I never missed. #repscroll #pushups #100pushups #lemon8creator

... Read moreStarting a daily pushup routine might seem daunting at first, especially if you find yourself struggling to do even a few reps. Like many, I began with weak arms and poor posture, compounded by bad habits like late-night phone use that affected my sleep. But setting a clear, achievable goal — 100 pushups each morning before checking my phone — changed everything. The key to success wasn’t just the physical exercise, but the behavioral shift that came with the routine. Breaking the 100 pushups into manageable sets helped me build endurance gradually without overwhelming my body. As the days passed, completing 100 pushups became easier, which boosted my confidence and motivation. One unexpected benefit was the improvement in posture. Pushups engage the chest, shoulders, and core, which supports better spinal alignment. Over time, I noticed less hunching and better overall body awareness. This physical change was reinforced by the habit of putting the phone away until the pushups were done, which minimized screen time right after waking. It helped break my dependence on immediate phone use and improved my mental clarity throughout the day. Logging every session with a streak tracker like Repscroll created a powerful accountability tool. Seeing a streak grow made skipping a day feel like losing progress, which kept me consistent without relying solely on willpower. For anyone looking to build strength, improve posture, and reduce morning phone addiction, I recommend starting with smaller sets and gradually increasing reps. Combine the physical challenge with a tracking method to maintain discipline. The combination of exercise and behavioral change transforms not just the body, but daily habits and mindset as well. This simple routine exemplifies how a focused, consistent habit can yield significant health and lifestyle improvements, even without complicated gym workouts or equipment. Give it a try—it might just reshape your mornings and your body like it did mine.

100 pushups a day for 30 days 💪
I did 100 pushups every day for 30 days. Week 1 was brutal. By week 3 my chest and shoulders actually changed. The trick? I didn't use willpower. I used an app that won't let me open my phone without doing reps first. 10 unlocks × 10 pushups = 100 without thinking. #pushupchallenge #fi
