Cesarina is the real deal. One of my top Italian spots in SD, it and Trattoria da Sofia are currently tied. Both 9’s, this one maybe a 9.5!
The bread was very fresh and had an extremely unique rosemary taste, the pasta you can watch being handmade in front of you in one part of the restaurant!
The server recommended this sauce to me and I’m pretty sure it was the Pomodoro Fresco though it could have been the Norma. You choose your own pasta shape!
You choose your own pasta shape and sauce, or can order off the pre-fixed menu! Their tiramisu was the best I’ve ever had. Very full, rich flavors that fill you up quickly.
IBS girlies and those with acid reflux may want to take precautions here as the dairy is very creamy and again fresh and lot of tomato ingredients for anything like a vodka sauce etc. Now they do offer vegan cheese options too though!
I will say though, whoever made my drink here had to have made it like 3x the limit, I could tell on first sip it was way too strong and it was actually so strong I threw up walking back to the car, on the sidewalk outside the restaurant after my meal without even finishing the drink😅💀 probably due to the combo of alcohol and acid ingredients from the tomato and dairy in the food.
Unfortunately I am not THAT much of a lightweight that one drink ever makes me sick like that. That was the first and only time that’s happened to me.
Not sure what happened that night as I was dining alone and maybe they just wanted me to feel really buzzed and happy about waiting, but with no one sitting nearby I don’t think I got spiked, so just be aware that their drinks may be made extremely strong and be careful!

You get to pick your favorite pasta shape – I love that freedom! – and then pair it with an incredible sauce. While I loved the Pomodoro Fresco, they have so many tempting options, whether you're into a rich, creamy vodka sauce or something lighter. It truly makes every visit unique. And before the main course, don't even get me started on the appetizers! The yummy rosemary bread apps are a must-try. The rosemary flavor is so distinct and fresh, unlike any other bread I've had. It's the perfect start to a memorable meal. But if you ask me for one absolute, non-negotiable must-have, it's the tiramisu. Seriously, this was the best tiramisu I've had! It's incredibly rich without being overly sweet, and it just melts in your mouth. The fact that it's often prepared right in front of you (or at least that's the impression I got from the fresh plating!) makes it even more delightful. It's the perfect end to a perfect meal, truly a 9.5/10 experience for me. For my fellow foodies with dietary considerations, they do offer vegan cheese options, which is a big plus! They really try to cater to everyone. Just a friendly heads-up: while the food is impeccable, do be mindful of their drinks. My experience was... quite potent! So, beware the drink strength here though – maybe ask for a lighter pour or stick to wine if you're sensitive. Otherwise, Cesarina is an absolute must-try Italian spot in Little Italy, SD.
