I live in a body that remembers everything! Every cycle, every loss, & every shift in chemistry. PMDD pulls the tide, BPD deepens the waves, and grief sits quietly in the background. But somehow, I’m still here, learning how to hold all of it at once. #grief #miscarriage #pmdd #mentalhealth
Living with PMDD and mental health disorders such as BPD alongside profound grief can feel like navigating a stormy sea. From personal experience, I’ve found that acknowledging the interplay between hormones, trauma, and emotional memory is crucial. Hormones don't just affect our physical body—they deeply influence mood and cognition, often amplifying feelings of grief or trauma in ways that can be difficult to anticipate. One helpful strategy has been mindful self-awareness; recognizing triggers during hormonal cycles allows for better emotional preparation and self-compassion. Journaling daily emotions helps to track patterns associated with PMDD and grief, providing insights into personal cycles and the impact of trauma. Therapy, including approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), can offer tools to manage the intensity of symptoms caused by these overlapping issues. I have also found support groups invaluable, as sharing experiences with others who understand hormonal and mental health struggles builds a sense of belonging and reduces isolation. The phrase "A Brain That Won't Shut Up" truly resonates, as intrusive thoughts and emotional waves can feel relentless. Self-care routines that include gentle exercise, balanced nutrition, and adequate rest contribute to stabilizing mood fluctuations. Dealing with miscarriage adds a silent layer of grief that intertwines with mental health and hormonal imbalances, often requiring gentle patience and validation of one’s feelings. Ultimately, holding all these pieces—PMDD, BPD, grief, trauma—takes courage and continual learning, but healing is possible with the right support and strategies.
