... Read moreHey everyone! I'm so excited to finally share more details about my custom purple Space Marine chapter scheme that I've been tinkering with for a while now. When I started this project, I really wanted to create something distinctive for my Warhammer 40K collection, a chapter that would truly stand out on the battlefield. And honestly, what color is more striking and less commonly seen than a bold purple for the Emperor's finest? Choosing purple wasn't just about being different; I feel it brings a sense of regal mystery and even a touch of menace to these super-soldiers. It’s a color that can evoke both nobility and a grim determination, perfectly fitting for a custom Space Marine chapter. I envisioned them as a chapter that operates in the shadows, perhaps with a penchant for lightning-fast, decisive strikes. For the paint scheme itself, I aimed for a vibrant purple armor that catches the light without being too flashy. I started with a deep base coat, then built up layers with lighter purple tones, focusing on edge highlighting to really make the armor pop. The contrast was key, so I decided on a striking blue power sword. I think the cool blue against the warm purple creates an awesome energy effect, making the miniature look ready for action. I also incorporated silver details on various parts of the armor, like the trim on the shoulder pads and the iconic winged emblem on the chest. These silver accents break up the purple nicely and give it that classic Space Marine feel. I made sure to pay attention to smaller details too, like the helmet, the leg armor, the intricately painted backpack, and even the pouches and the holstered gun. Each element got a touch of care to bring the whole model to life. And let’s talk about the base! I didn't want just a plain base. I went for a textured grassy base, adding some small yellow flowers for a splash of contrasting color. To tie it all together, I painted the rim of the base with a matching purple. It’s those little touches that really make a custom-painted miniature feel complete and tell a story. Thinking about other color combinations, I’ve seen some amazing black and purple Space Marines that look incredibly grim and stoic. Green and purple Space Marines can also create a really vibrant, almost alien look, which is super cool for certain chapter themes. For my custom chapter, I lean more towards the silver and purple, as it feels more traditional yet still unique. If you're thinking of creating your own custom Space Marine chapter or painting a purple Space Marine, I highly recommend just going for it! Don't be afraid to experiment with different shades and complementary colors. Think about the kind of lore you want for your chapter – are they noble guardians, vengeful crusaders, or something entirely new? What unique details can you add, like a specific emblem or a distinctive base? Every custom chapter has a story waiting to be told through its paint scheme. I'd love to hear your thoughts on my 'Purp Marine' and what ideas you have for custom Warhammer 40K chapters. Happy hobbying!
