I was just trying to fish!
Hey Tenno! I used to think fishing in Warframe was just a side hustle, but honestly, it's become one of my favorite ways to chill and gather vital resources. If you're like me, constantly needing standing or crafting materials like Fish Oil, knowing the best spots is a game-changer. I remember one evening, just trying to unwind after a tough mission, I decided to take my Excalibur Umbra for a little fishing trip... and that's when I really started discovering the prime locations. Plains of Eidolon Hotspots: Where the Rare Catches Hide This is where I spend a lot of my time, especially when I’m chasing specific resources. For starters, the Gara Toht Lake (the big one near Cetus) is fantastic. I’ve found it’s particularly good at night for reeling in Murkray and Cuthol. During the day, you'll encounter plenty of Mawfish and Charc Eels. Don't forget your Luminous Dye to make them glow! It makes a huge difference in spotting them in the murky water. For the rarer catches by the ocean, especially when you're targeting specific eidolon fishing hotspots, like Norg and Murkray, you’ll definitely want to use Peppered Bait or Twilight Bait depending on the cycle. I've personally found some amazing fishing spots along the coastline, particularly near the gates leading out of Cetus. It’s all about finding those dense clusters of fish, indicated by ripples or groups swimming together. And trust me, if you fish here consistently, you'll be swimming in Fish Oil from continuous catches – essential for various blueprints! Orb Vallis Secrets: Coolant Lakes & Hidden Caves Over in Fortuna, fishing gets a bit different due to the unique coolant lakes and hidden caves. My top recommendation is the Coolant Lake itself, which offers a vast area to explore, or the smaller caves dotted around the map. Look for areas where the water looks slightly disturbed or where bubbles rise – those are often secret fishing hotspots. You'll be after fish like Tink, Eye-Eye, Kriller, and the more valuable Synathid. The weather cycles (warm/cold) make a significant difference here, so always keep an eye on the forecast! I’ve had my best luck reeling in elusive Synathids when it’s warm, as they seem to spawn more frequently then. Cambion Drift (A Quick Detour): While a bit more chaotic with its aggressive fauna, the Cambion Drift also has its unique fishing opportunities. The Fass/Vome cycles dictate which fish appear, so it pays to check the current cycle before you head out. The rivers here are teeming with bizarre creatures, and it's a great place to break up the routine if you're getting tired of the usual spots. Just be ready for a fight while you fish! Essential Gear & My Personal Tips: Spears: Always bring multiple! The Lanzo is great for Plains of Eidolon, while the Shockprod is ideal for Orb Vallis' robotic fish. The Spari is a good all-rounder if you're just starting. Bait & Dye: Don't skimp on these. They dramatically increase your chances of rare fish. Luminous Dye is a must-have for visibility, especially during night cycles or in murky waters. Warframe Choice: While any Warframe can fish, some make it easier. I often bring my trusty Excalibur Umbra because he's my main, but I've seen Tenno use Ivara's invisibility to get closer without scaring fish, or Volt's Speed to quickly zip between pond hotspots. Finding Hotspots: Always look for distinct ripple effects in the water, or groups of fish swimming together. Sometimes, just running along a shore or taking a quick Archwing flight will reveal a fantastic new spot you hadn't noticed before. Resource Grinding: Remember, fishing isn't just for fun! It's a prime way to get standing with Ostron or Solaris United, and of course, those precious crafting components like Fish Oil. You'll need tons for building items, ranking up syndicates, and even some Warframe parts. So next time you're in Warframe, don't just rush through missions. Take a moment, grab your spear, and explore these fishing spots. You might be surprised at what you "unexpectedly find" and how much easier it makes your Tenno journey. Happy fishing!
