Cuando reconocía mi valor, dejé de ponerme en segundo lugar.
Hoy me elijo a mí.
Yo soy mi número uno.
Recognizing your own worth can be a transformative experience that shifts your entire perspective on life. From my personal journey, I can say that once I started valuing myself, everything changed. It wasn’t easy at first; society and culture often teach us to put others’ needs before our own, especially for Latinas where family and community are highly emphasized. However, choosing to prioritize yourself doesn’t mean becoming selfish—it means acknowledging that you deserve care, respect, and attention just as much as anyone else. When I fully embraced the idea of being my number one, I noticed improvements not only in my self-confidence but also in my relationships. When you hold yourself in higher regard, others start to reflect that respect back to you. Practically, this shift meant setting boundaries, saying no without guilt, and making decisions based on what felt right for me rather than always trying to please others. It involved daily affirmations and being mindful of negative self-talk that can sabotage your sense of worth. If you find yourself constantly putting yourself last, take small steps today. Maybe it’s carving out time for a hobby, speaking up for your needs, or simply reminding yourself aloud, "I am my number one." This self-empowerment is a continuous journey but each step forward nurtures your spirit and well-being. Ultimately, embracing your value enriches your life with more joy, peace, and authenticity. Remember that choosing yourself is a brave and beautiful act of self-love that can inspire those around you to do the same.
