Loc Journey pt. 2 : Day 1 to month 4 🌱

Starting my second set of locs has been an incredible experience, and I'm so excited to share the initial stages, especially from Day 1 right up to Month 4! When I first got my freshly installed starter locs, the neat parts were everything. I remember feeling a mix of excitement and anticipation for the journey ahead. My locs have visibly grown longer and are developing those beautiful, defined curls. They feel more solid, and I can do more with them, like styling them in a high bun. This period often brings up questions about maintenance and what to expect. For anyone considering starter locs, or those already on their '4 month loc journey,' my biggest tip is to moisturize regularly and be gentle. I often get asked about 'instant locs vs starter locs.' While instant locs offer immediate length, I personally love the organic process of traditional starter locs. There's something deeply satisfying about watching your hair transform naturally from scratch. If you have 'thin fine hair,' don't worry! Starter locs can definitely work. It might just mean adjusting your sectioning size or maintenance routine to ensure they don't unravel easily. I've learned that understanding your hair type and consulting with a professional is key.
