5 Month Loc Journey
Focused on others things, and trusting the process.
Same routine. I can’t believe I’ve got it this far.
Some people thought I was going to give up.
But no no no…I’m loc’d in!
Starting my loc journey was both exciting and challenging. At the 5-month mark, I realized that staying consistent with my hair care routine was key to seeing real progress. Retwisting my locs regularly, about every 4 to 6 weeks, helped maintain their neat appearance while allowing new growth to lock properly. One thing I learned is the importance of patience; locs don’t form overnight. It took me focusing on other parts of my life and trusting that, with time, my hair would mature beautifully. I made sure to keep my scalp moisturized and clean to prevent dryness and buildup, which kept my locs healthy and looking great. A retwist at 5 months really helped redefine my locs, encouraging tighter, more uniform curls to develop. Having a consistent routine, combined with proper maintenance, reassured me even when some doubted I would continue. This journey has been not just about hair but also about discipline and self-confidence. If you’re starting your loc journey or are a few months in, my advice is to trust the process, avoid rushing, and embrace the unique texture and growth patterns of your hair. Celebrate milestones along the way—they are a sign of progress and commitment to your natural hair journey.
