Excited about these cast iron pans 🤩
They are preseasoned but please give me any advice on cooking with/cleaning cast iron
I recently received a preseasoned cast iron pan as part of a 5-year anniversary corporate gift, and I’m thrilled to share some tips from my experience using and caring for it. These pans come with a great natural non-stick surface right out of the box, but treating them well ensures they last a lifetime. First, when cooking, always preheat your cast iron pan gradually before adding oil. This prevents food from sticking and helps achieve an even sear. Avoid using high-acid ingredients like tomatoes for long cooking times initially as they can wear down the seasoning layer. Instead, use your pan for searing meats, roasting vegetables, or frying eggs to build up seasoning. Cleaning is simple yet very important. Never soak your cast iron or use harsh detergents. After cooking, wipe out excess food with a paper towel or rinse with warm water. For stubborn bits, use a pan scraper or a grill pan scraper to gently remove residue without damaging the surface. Dry immediately and apply a light coat of oil to prevent rust. Occasionally, re-season your pan by coating it with a thin layer of vegetable oil and baking it upside down in the oven at around 350°F for an hour. This process replenishes the protective layer and preserves the pan’s performance. Using these tips, your preseasoned cast iron pan will remain a reliable and cherished tool in your kitchen for years. Enjoy the joy of cooking with cast iron—its durability and heat retention truly elevate your culinary creations.
