I almost quit fitness after this… 🤦🏽♂️
In 2022, I spent 5 months dieting, training, and sacrificing everything for my 3rd bodybuilding competition. I was coming off a 2nd-place finish and thought this was my time. My last chance to win as a teen.
But when I stepped on stage… I placed even worse than before.
I was devastated. Felt robbed. Thought I deserved to win. But what I didn’t realize at the time was… I was small. I was flat. My posing sucked. And my diet? 1,000 calories a day with barely any protein.
I almost quit—not just bodybuilding, but fitness altogether. But then I remembered why I started. It wasn’t for trophies or validation. It was to be the best version of myself and inspire others to do the same.
That loss taught me more than any win ever could—humility, maturity, and the real meaning of fitness.
Progress isn’t always linear, but quitting guarantees failure. If you’re struggling, KEEP GOING. You’re further than you think.

In any fitness journey, setbacks are part of the process. Many aspiring bodybuilders and fitness enthusiasts face moments of doubt, particularly after disappointing results. The experience of competing often reveals the harsh realities of preparation, including the importance of proper nutrition and mental fortitude. Following a 5-month rigorous training regime, I found myself crushed by disappointment, which almost led me to abandon my passions altogether. I learned that fitness isn’t solely about trophies; it’s about personal growth and helping others strive for their best selves. It’s significant to remember that these trials provide valuable lessons. Progress isn’t always a straight line. Embracing the journey means accepting both wins and losses, allowing them to guide our growth. When feeling overwhelmed, find motivation by revisiting your initial reasons for starting your fitness journey. Surround yourself with supportive communities, whether in-person or online. This connection can make all the difference in maintaining your resolve. If you're struggling, just know that every champion has faced adversity. Embrace your unique journey, learn from your experiences, and continue moving forward. Keep in mind that quitting guarantees failure, but perseverance leads to progress. Stay committed to yourself, and remember: you are closer to your goals than you think.
