Hey everyone! I’m so excited to share my journey and tips on cleaning your FYP on TikTok. We all know how easy it is for our 'For You Page' to get a little… chaotic. One minute you're watching aesthetic organization videos, and the next, you're deep into something completely random that doesn't resonate with you at all! I used to get so frustrated with my feed, constantly seeing videos that weren't inspiring or relevant to my interests. That’s when I decided it was time for a digital detox and a serious FYP overhaul. So, what exactly does 'cleaning your FYP' mean? Essentially, it’s actively teaching TikTok’s algorithm what you want to see and, more importantly, what you don't want to see. It’s about curating a personalized feed that genuinely brings you joy, inspiration, or whatever vibe you're going for – especially if you’re aiming for that 'clean aesthetic' everyone loves. Think of it as spring cleaning for your digital life! Why bother? Well, a cleaner FYP isn't just about aesthetics; it's about your well-being! Less irrelevant content means less mindless scrolling, more relevant information, and a more positive online experience. For me, it transformed my TikTok from a time-sink into a source of daily inspiration. Ready to give your FYP a fresh start? Here’s my go-to guide on how to clean your TikTok FYP: Utilize the "Not Interested" Feature Religiously: This is your best friend! When you see a video you don't like, long-press on it. You'll see an option to select "Not Interested." Use it often. The more you do this, the smarter the algorithm becomes at filtering out similar content. I even take it a step further: if it's a specific type of content I never want to see (like certain pranks or trending sounds), I’ll also tap "Hide videos from this user" or "Hide videos with this sound." Block and Report When Necessary: For content that makes you genuinely uncomfortable or violates guidelines, don't hesitate to block the user or report the video. This sends a strong signal to TikTok and also helps protect you from encountering that content again. I once blocked an account that kept appearing with content I found really annoying, and it instantly improved my feed! Engage Strategically with What You Love: This is where the magic happens for curating your TikTok FYP. Actively like, comment on, and share videos that align with your desired aesthetic or interests. Watch them all the way through, and even rewatch your favorites! The algorithm pays close attention to what you engage with. If I'm chasing a specific aesthetic, say, minimalist home decor, I'll spend extra time on those videos. Follow Accounts That Inspire You: Seek out creators who consistently post content you adore. Following them tells TikTok, "Hey, I want more of *this*!" This is especially helpful if you're trying to build a specific type of feed, like a "clean girl aesthetic" or a "cottagecore" vibe. Search Intentionally: Don't just scroll; use the search bar! Look up hashtags or keywords related to your interests (e.g., #cleanaesthetic, #minimalistfashion, #healthyrecipes). Watch a few videos from the search results, and again, engage with them. This helps introduce new, relevant content into your algorithm. Clear Your Cache (A Last Resort): If you feel like your FYP is completely stuck or you want a nearly fresh start, you can try clearing TikTok's cache. Go to your Profile > Settings and privacy > Free up space > Clear cache. This won't delete your drafts or saved videos, but it can sometimes give the algorithm a gentle nudge to re-evaluate your preferences. I’ve done this a couple of times when my feed felt completely off track. By consistently applying these tips, you'll be amazed at how quickly your FYP transforms. I went from a cluttered, random feed to a beautifully curated space filled with inspiring fashion, productive routines, and lovely aesthetic visuals. It truly makes a difference in my daily scrolling experience. Give it a try, and let me know how it works for you!
