Day 1 - Momentum Medicine - The Journey Begins

Day 1 – Momentum Medicine – The Journey Begins

After a very long period of time ignoring my body, not honouring my needs and struggling with my mental health I have finally drawn a line in the sand and taking my power back.

I am the heaviest I have ever been and internally been ‘faking it until I make it mode’ which is utterly exhausting in itself. Since moving to Canberra, I have had to process a lot of traumas from the past, with things I wasn’t even aware of. I’ve been on a journey of, ‘I’ve got this’ to ‘actually no I don’t’. I felt like I have been living full on imposter syndrome and quite frankly I can’t do it anymore & nor am I meant to.

I’m not posting this for any sympathy or attention but to provide understanding and empathy purely for those I know have been struggling for awhile themselves, you are not alone and we will get through this.

For me to have any form of success I need to have accountability, that’s my motivator. So that is what I am doing and here I am.

In my heart of hearts, I am now ready to push forward and take my life back, so here I am, raw and ready to go. So, day one was get walking again, we are finally getting some decent weather days to take full advantage of because winter will be here before we know it & I will need to adjust accordingly.

A great way for me to lift my energy is to get creative and for me one of those is through my photography, it helps me see life through light and shadow which is part of our existence.

I am clearing away what is holding me down, toxic situations, toxic people and basically anything that tries to dim my light….no more!

It’s a time of baby steps, making subtle changes and forward momentum. I will be posting my journey and hopefully on your challenging days provide you will a little glimmer of hope or some inspiration for changes you can make in your own life.

Let’s go!

... Read moreStarting a journey like this can feel overwhelming, but it’s important to remember that progress is built on consistent small steps. When I began focusing on my own mental health and well-being, I noticed that incorporating daily movement, like walking, really shifted my energy and mindset. It wasn’t just physical exercise — it became a ritual for mindfulness and reconnecting with my body. Accountability is indeed a powerful motivator. For me, sharing goals with supportive friends or through journaling helped maintain that accountability. It’s encouraging to see others share their journeys, as it creates a community of understanding and empathy. When you open up about struggles such as imposter syndrome or processing trauma, you free yourself from isolation and invite healing. Creativity, such as photography or any other artistic outlet, can also serve as a meaningful way to process emotions and reframe perspective. Observing light and shadow, as mentioned, is a beautiful metaphor for life’s contrasts and the balance we seek. Lastly, removing toxicity—whether from relationships or environments—is essential to safeguard your mental health and personal growth. It’s a courageous act of self-love to let go of anything dimming your light. If you’re embarking on a similar momentum medicine journey, embrace patience and compassion for yourself. Celebrate the baby steps; each one brings forward momentum. And remember, you are not alone—our collective experiences create strength and hope for continued change.
