A bit about me…

I am a survivor of narcissistic abuse. I was in the relationship for four years and had a child with this person. My child is the biggest blessing that came out of the relationship.

For a while everything was AMAZING. He built trust with me, respect, care, love, and just so many other things. I go back in my memory some times and I can’t remember when the abuse started, but I remember so many words and actions that brought everything to a head.

I was love bombed. I was put on a pedestal all to just get it swiped out from under me when a girl messaged me to tell me they had conversations of leaving our child and me to be with her (in another state). She also told me how he owes her $250 on Venmo (he still claims he doesn’t have one). That was the first of many females he had hit up. I either found them or they found me.

As I got to a point when I decided to start taking up for myself, I was met with “shut the f**k up” or “I’ll paint the ceiling red” or “I’ll kill you in front of your mom and make her clean it up”.

I struggled with self esteem issues, paranoia, anxiety, depression and worse…. I couldn’t be the mom I knew I needed to be. I couldn’t take up for her when he was yelling at her tell her stfu or calling her a MFer (started doing that when she turned 1).

This is just the overview of what I experienced.

You are not alone. There are others and they are willing to be there for you and talk to you. I’m one of those people.

Never give up, never stop praying, and never stop trying to find the good in everything.

... Read moreNarcissistic abuse can have profound and long-lasting effects on an individual’s mental and emotional well-being. Beyond the immediate trauma, survivors often endure anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, loss of self-worth, and various physical symptoms such as headaches, body aches, and sleep disturbances. These symptoms arise because narcissistic abuse systematically erodes a person’s confidence and sense of reality, often making them question their own judgment and feelings. One common tactic in narcissistic abuse is "love bombing," where the abuser initially overwhelms their partner with affection and attention. This creates a false sense of security before manipulation, control, and verbal or psychological abuse begin. As described in this survivor’s experience, the abuser’s behavior escalated to threats of violence, verbal insults, and emotional neglect, impacting not only the survivor but their children as well. Healing from narcissistic abuse involves several important steps. Survivors benefit from understanding the dynamics of abuse, validating their experiences, and connecting with supportive communities that offer empathy and guidance. Therapy, especially trauma-informed care, can be crucial in rebuilding self-esteem and addressing anxiety and depression symptoms. Empowerment through education about narcissistic behaviors also helps survivors set boundaries and recognize early warning signs to prevent future abusive relationships. It is essential for survivors to remember that they are not alone. There are numerous resources, both online and offline, including support groups, counseling services, and educational materials dedicated to abuse recovery. Maintaining hope, practicing self-care, and seeking help are key elements of the journey towards reclaiming one’s life and happiness. This article emphasizes the importance of perseverance, prayer, and the pursuit of positivity despite adversity, delivering a message of hope and solidarity to all those affected by narcissistic abuse and emotional trauma.
