Wow, my birthday dinner at Guard & Grace in Denver was truly an experience I won't soon forget! If you're looking for an elegant, upscale spot to celebrate a special occasion, or simply indulge in a fantastic meal, you absolutely have to consider this place. From the moment we saw the distinctive blue neon sign outside, highlighting the location, we knew we were in for something special. The atmosphere inside is sophisticated yet welcoming, perfect for a memorable evening. We started our culinary journey with some incredible appetizers. The Crispy Rice Tuna Sushi was a beautiful dish, artfully presented with fresh greens and sauce – a perfect blend of textures and flavors. And what a delightful surprise to receive a complimentary birthday tasting dish, a small seafood appetizer, that truly set the tone for the special treatment we received all night. The service was impeccable, attentive without being intrusive, making us feel incredibly celebrated. There was even a moment where my companion, Jeff, was surprised by his drink served in a cool blue tiki cup! For mains, the steaks are, of course, the star of the show. I opted for the 4oz Wagyu Filet Mignon, which was cooked to absolute perfection, melting in my mouth with every bite. My companion was thrilled with his Filet Mignon Flight, allowing him to sample different cuts of steak. These were accompanied by an array of fantastic side dishes. The Duck Fat Fries were unbelievably crispy and flavorful, a definite must-try. The Crispy Brussels Sprouts, served with a perfect char, were another highlight. We also enjoyed dipping into the rich Bernaise Sauce and the classic Peppercorn Sauce, which complemented the steaks beautifully. Oh, and I can't forget the 'Chef's Kiss' combo – those warm, golden-brown bread rolls served with herb butter were simply divine. Guard & Grace truly excels at making a birthday feel extraordinary. The attention to detail, the quality of ingredients, and the expert preparation are evident in every dish. It's clear why they've received recognition, even from publications like Wine Spectator, and why Chef Troy Guard's background and culinary philosophy shines through. While we didn't use a private dining room this time, it's definitely something I'd consider for a larger group or an even more intimate celebration, knowing the level of service they provide. If you're planning a special birthday dinner, an anniversary, or just want to treat yourself to an unforgettable fine dining experience in Denver, Guard & Grace should be at the top of your list. Make sure to make a reservation, especially for weekend evenings. It's an investment in an experience, and one that absolutely pays off. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!
