Really time to zone in and work on not just miles but different types of styles of running as in my training plan. This week is working on speed and zone 2 conversational pace.
If you are running the United Airlines Half Marathon in NYC on March 15 I would love to meet some others as well!

Training for a half marathon requires more than just logging miles; it's essential to incorporate varied running styles to boost endurance, speed, and recovery. In my recent training, I've emphasized balancing speed intervals with Zone 2 conversational pace runs. Zone 2 running refers to a heart rate zone where you can carry on a conversation comfortably, enhancing your aerobic capacity without overtaxing your body. One practical tip is to integrate weekly sessions of tempo runs or intervals to build speed—these can be short bursts at higher intensity with recovery in between. Complement these with longer, slower Zone 2 runs to develop a strong aerobic base that supports race endurance. As the United Airlines Half Marathon approaches, I’ve also been setting incremental goals to stay motivated. For example, I have 25 days left to the race, and I’m actively seeking ways to reach my personal best while contributing to a greater cause by running for Team For Kids, which promotes sports and fitness within New York State communities. This sense of purpose keeps the training meaningful and rewarding. If you’re also registered for the event, connecting with other participants can offer valuable support and accountability. Group runs or online communities under hashtags like #halfmarathontraining and #unitedairlineshalfmarathon are great for sharing experiences and tips. Lastly, remember to listen to your body—adequate rest, hydration, and nutrition are integral parts of any training plan. By balancing focused workouts and recovery, you’ll be best prepared to enjoy the race day experience and achieve your running goals.
