私が青島神社でいちばん「南国だなあ…」と感じたのは、島へ向かう参道の空気感でした。海風が通って、鳥居の朱色と青い海が同時に目に入るので、写真を撮らなくても記憶に残ります。参道は歩きやすく、島に渡った瞬間に景色と音が変わるのが面白いところ。旅行の途中でサクッと寄ったつもりが、気づけばゆっくり散策していました。 青島神社とは、海に囲まれた青島の中央に鎮座する神社で、南国らしい雰囲気が魅力。島全体がパワースポットみたいで、境内に入る前から非日常感があります。足元の「鬼の洗濯板」は干潮・満潮で見え方が変わるので、時間が合えばぜひ海沿いも歩いてみてください。波の音を聞きながら眺めると、同じ場所でも印象が変わります。 ご利益は、縁結び・安産・勝負運などで知られていて、お願いごとの内容が幅広いのも人気の理由だと思います。私は旅先の神社では「今後も安全に旅ができますように」と、つい欲張らずにお願いする派。参拝後に参道を戻るとき、気持ちが整った感じがして不思議でした。 アクセス面だと「青島駅から青島神社 徒歩」で探している人も多いですが、体感としては駅からの道もわかりやすく、散歩感覚で向かえました。道中は海が近く、南国の植物（ビロウ樹＝ビロウジュ）っぽい雰囲気もあって、歩く時間そのものが観光になります。暑い時期は日差しが強いので、帽子や飲み物があると安心です。 青島神社周辺の観光は、神社だけで終わらせるのがもったいないエリア。海沿いの景色を眺めたり、鬼の洗濯板を角度を変えて見たり、少し足を止めるだけで満足度が上がります。私は「参道→参拝→海沿い散策」の順が落ち着いて回れておすすめでした。南国の景色と雰囲気を味わいたいなら、時間に少し余裕を作って訪れるのがいちばんだと思います。
