How I got over someone I never dated💌

2024/2/9 Edited to

... Read moreIt’s a unique kind of heartache, isn’t it? That ache for someone you never actually 'had' in the traditional sense. Many people might say, 'But you never even dated!' – and while that's true, the feelings are incredibly real and valid. Don't let anyone diminish what you're feeling; unrequited love can be just as painful, if not more so, because it often lives in a fantasy world. One of the biggest breakthroughs for me was truly understanding what it meant to 'take them off that pedestal.' For so long, I had built this perfect image of them in my head, a fantasy version of what we could be. But the reality? That person was largely a projection of my hopes and desires. I started actively challenging those idealized thoughts. Instead of dwelling on their perceived perfection, I tried to honestly 'evaluate their actions' and recall moments that weren't so perfect, or simply acknowledge their unavailability, which is a flaw in itself when you're seeking a connection. It wasn't about demonizing them, but about seeing them as a complete human, not a flawless ideal. This grounded perspective was essential for me to start healing. You know how they say 'out of sight, out of mind'? It's often easier said than done, especially with social media. The OCR mentioned 'detaching from someone by avoiding social media and interaction,' and I can't stress this enough. I had to go a step further than just muting. Temporarily unfollowing or even blocking was crucial for me. Every time I saw their update, it was a fresh wound or a rekindling of false hope. Beyond digital detachment, I also set boundaries in real life. If there were mutual friends, I'd politely steer conversations away from them or choose not to attend events where I knew they'd be present, at least for a while. This gave me the mental and emotional space I desperately needed to heal without constant reminders. 'Investing in oneself' wasn’t just a cliché; it became my lifeline. This took many forms for me. It meant rediscovering old hobbies I’d let slide, like painting, reading, or hiking. It meant trying new things – a pottery class, a new workout routine, or even just exploring different parts of my city. I focused on building up my life, my joy, independent of anyone else. This wasn't a distraction; it was active self-creation. I started journaling regularly, pouring out all those swirling thoughts and emotions onto paper, which helped me process them instead of letting them fester. Prioritizing my own well-being became non-negotiable. While the 'importance of time' certainly helps to heal, it's not passive. It's about what you do with that time. For me, it was about consistently choosing myself, day after day. It meant allowing myself to feel the sadness, but also actively seeking moments of joy and connection with others. It meant understanding that healing isn't linear; there will be good days and bad days. But with each passing week, as I continued to invest in my own growth and happiness, the intensity of those feelings lessened. The focus shifted from 'them' to 'me,' and that shift was incredibly empowering. Ultimately, I realized this wasn't a story of rejection, but a chapter of self-discovery. It was about learning to love and value myself so deeply that the absence of someone else's affection didn't define my worth. It took courage, patience, and a lot of self-compassion, but moving on from unrequited love taught me invaluable lessons about resilience and the power of focusing on my own well-being. You deserve that peace too, and by taking these active steps, you can absolutely find it.

How healing changed the way I dated.
Healing changed the way I date completely. I stopped romanticizing inconsistency. Stopped ignoring red flags because someone had “potential.” Stopped thinking anxiety meant passion. One of the hardest parts of healing is realizing you outgrow the relationships that once felt familiar. No

Apple Calendar updates I love
so I have updated my macbook air m1 to the latest macOS Sequoia 15.0.1 and my calendar can finally link with reminders app! I can now add due dates over on reminders and it’d show on my calendar as a checklist, or I can directly add a dated to-do on calendars and it’d sync over to reminders app!
