Daily Devotional: Thankful for Jesus
Gratitude is often stirred by the blessings we can see; provision, protection, or answered prayers
But today, we fix our hearts on the greatest gift ever given: Jesus.
God did not give something temporary or replaceable, He gave His Son. Jesus is not just a blessing added to our lives; He is the foundation of life itself. Through Him, we have forgiveness where there was guilt, hope where there was despair, and life where there was once death.
It’s easy for us to become familiar with the story of the cross, to hear it so often that it no longer moves us as it should. But when we pause and truly consider what Jesus has done: leaving heaven, enduring suffering, bearing our sin; we are reminded that this gift is beyond comprehension. It is, as Scripture says, indescribable.
Gratitude for Jesus is not just spoken, it is lived. When we are truly thankful, it changes how we walk, how we speak, and how we love others. A thankful heart reflects the One it is grateful for.
Thankfulness for Jesus is not confined to a season, a tradition, or a day; it is a daily response to what He has done. If we truly understand the cross, then gratitude should be present in us every single day. Let us take a moment to honestly reflect on whether we are living in that kind of thankfulness.
Ask yourself:
- Have we allowed the sacrifice of Jesus to become too familiar in our hearts?
- In what ways can we actively show our gratitude for Him today?
- Are we living in a way that reflects thankfulness for the gift we’ve received?
“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” - 1 Corinthians 15:57
Let our hearts rise each day with gratitude, not because life is perfect, but because Jesus is. And because of Him, we have more than enough to be thankful for, today and always.
