Patty Melts on Garlic Toast🥪

Ingredients:📝

For the Garlic Toast:

4 slices of thick bread (such as sourdough or rye)

4 tablespoons salted butter, softened

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon dried parsley

For the Patties:

1 lb ground beef

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

For the Onions:

1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced

1 tablespoon butter

For Assembly:

4 slices Swiss cheese

4 slices cheddar cheese

Optional: mayonnaise for spreading

Directions:

Prepare the Garlic Toast:

In a small bowl, mix the softened butter with garlic powder and dried parsley until well combined.

Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly on one side of each bread slice. Set aside.

Caramelize the Onions:

In a skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter.

Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until they become soft and golden brown, about 15-20 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

Form and Cook the Patties:

In a bowl, combine the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Mix gently to combine.

Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each into a patty slightly larger than the bread slices, as they will shrink during cooking.

Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. Remove from heat and set aside.

Assemble the Patty Melts:

Place two slices of bread, garlic butter side down, on a clean surface.

On each slice, place one slice of Swiss cheese, followed by a cooked beef patty, a portion of caramelized onions, and a slice of cheddar cheese.

Top each with the remaining bread slices, garlic butter side up.

Grill the Sandwiches:

Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.

Place the assembled sandwiches onto the skillet and cook until the bread is golden brown and the cheese has melted, about 3-4 minutes per side. Press down gently with a spatula to ensure even grilling.

Serve:

Remove the sandwiches from the skillet and let them rest for a minute.

Slice each sandwich in half and serve hot.
