This is what a self-love journey really looks like

I didn’t wake up one day suddenly loving myself.

It was small choices.

Quiet moments.

Slipping up and starting again.

My self-love journey didn’t start with a mirror affirmation… it started when I decided to treat myself with love—even on the days I didn’t feel it.

If you’re in a season where it feels hard to love yourself, start with gentleness.

You don’t need to be “fixed.” You just need to come home to you.

💭 What’s one way you’re showing yourself love this week? Let’s remind each other it doesn’t have to be loud to be powerful.

... Read moreSelf-love is often misunderstood as grand gestures or constant positive affirmations, but the true journey is composed of everyday moments and decisions that build inner peace and acceptance. Many people, as reflected in the article, start by unlearning harmful habits such as chasing perfection or conforming to diet culture. Instead, they embrace actions that feel authentic and nourishing, like resting without guilt, moving their bodies because it feels good, and confidently saying no to things that drain energy. This process also involves challenging internalized criticisms, such as harshly judging photos of oneself, and instead choosing peace over perfection. Real self-love means taking up physical and emotional space unapologetically, wearing what feels right regardless of societal expectations, and acknowledging that self-worth is inherent rather than earned. Importantly, the journey includes setbacks and restarts—small slips do not negate progress. Being gentle with oneself during difficult emotional seasons and recognizing the need to 'come home to you' can reduce feelings of being broken or needing to be fixed. The practice of radical self-love also encourages embracing your individuality and accepting that everyone is worthy of love and care. Incorporating these values into daily life creates a more sustainable and empowering path to self-compassion. It moves beyond surface-level rituals to cultivate a deep-rooted mindset shift towards kindness, patience, and genuine acceptance. This approach supports mental and emotional healing and ultimately leads to a more peaceful and fulfilling relationship with oneself.
