Chocolate covered strawberries 🍓😋
Should I become “ @ sweetsbyrubyxo” ? 😅
You know that feeling when you crave something decadent, but the price tag makes you hesitate? That was me with chocolate covered strawberries. I used to splurge on them, admiring the beautiful arrangements, but then a lightbulb went off: 'Why not try making them myself?' And honestly, I just saved myself a good $150 by doing it myself this past year! It's not just about the money, though that's a huge bonus, it's about the pure joy and satisfaction of creating something so beautiful and delicious right in your own kitchen. If you’ve ever wondered if you could master these delightful treats, let me tell you, you absolutely can! The process is much simpler than you might imagine, and the results are incredibly rewarding. Plus, you get to customize them exactly how you like, choosing your favorite chocolate and adding all sorts of fun sprinkles or drizzles. No more settling for pre-made options that might not hit the spot. So, what do you need to get started on your own batch of lovely sweets? First and foremost, fresh, ripe strawberries are key. Look for bright red berries with green caps that are firm but juicy. Then, for the star of the show, the chocolate! I've experimented with various types, and a good quality melting chocolate or chocolate chips (milk, dark, or white, depending on your preference) works best. You'll also want some wax paper or parchment paper for setting, a baking sheet, and either a double boiler setup or a microwave-safe bowl for melting. For decorations, let your imagination run wild – sprinkles, chopped nuts, shredded coconut, or even a contrasting chocolate drizzle can elevate your creations. Now for the fun part – the making! The absolute most important step is ensuring your strawberries are completely dry after washing. Any water droplets will cause your chocolate to seize and become clumpy. After they're sparkling clean and dry, gently melt your chocolate. I prefer the double boiler method for a smoother melt, but microwaving in short bursts, stirring frequently, also works. Once your chocolate is beautifully smooth and glossy, it’s dipping time! Hold the strawberry by its green cap, dip it into the melted chocolate, twirling gently to coat about two-thirds of the berry. Let any excess chocolate drip off, then place it on your prepared wax paper. This is where you can quickly add any sprinkles or toppings before the chocolate sets. Pop your bandeja of chocolate-covered beauties into the fridge for about 15-20 minutes, or until the chocolate is firm. And voilà! You’ve got gourmet-quality chocolate covered strawberries that taste incredible and didn't break the bank. This whole journey of 'doing it myself' has been so rewarding, and seeing the smiles on my friends' faces when they try my homemade sweets... it makes me think, maybe becoming '@sweetsbyrubyxo' isn't such a bad idea after all! It’s truly amazing what you can create when you put a little love and effort into it, and seriously, the savings are just the icing on the cake, or should I say, the chocolate on the strawberry!
