more in depth reading

reading is great and all but sometimes we miss some good things I tend to like taking notes that really resonates with me to reflect back on in hard times when I need a pick me up.

2025/1/1 Edited to

... Read moreReading is amazing, but sometimes I felt like I was missing out on truly internalizing the wisdom within the pages. That's why I started taking notes, especially on those passages that genuinely resonate with me. Just like the message in my notes says: 'Take notes on what resonates with you to reflect back on.' It's not just about passively consuming information; it's about making it stick and using it to grow. For me, effective note-taking isn't about copying text word-for-word. It's an active process. When I'm going through my latest readlists, I try a few things: First, active annotation. This means writing quick thoughts, questions, or connections in the margins of the book or on a sticky note. If I'm reading digitally, I use the highlight and comment features extensively. This initial engagement prevents me from simply skimming. Second, I practice summarization. After a chapter or a key concept, I'll pause and jot down the main ideas in my own words. This is crucial for solidifying understanding, especially when I'm diving into complex topics like developing personal discipline or understanding nuanced leadership strategies. It forces my brain to process the information, not just read it. Third, I keep a dedicated 'insights' notebook or a digital document. This is where I transfer quotes, profound ideas, and my personal reflections on what I've read. This acts as my personal reservoir of wisdom. When I need a 'pick-me-up' or a fresh perspective during challenging times, I can simply flip through these notes. It's incredibly empowering to see how far I've come and to revisit insights that once inspired me. This whole process has significantly boosted my personal discipline. It’s a commitment to active learning and growth that spills over into other areas of my life. When I read books on leadership, my notes become a personalized playbook for developing my own skills. My readlists are no longer just a collection of titles; they're a curated journey of personal development, each book an opportunity to extract valuable, actionable wisdom. Even if you're a gamer, applying structured learning from reading and note-taking can sharpen your strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, translating into better in-game decisions and a deeper appreciation for game narratives. It’s all about making your reading work harder for you, turning every page into an opportunity for true reflection and practical application.
