Happy Pride
To all the versions of past me who struggled to cope with our identities- you are no less valid and made me who I am today. I carry the lessons I learned from being socialized as a girl, being out as non-binary, to eventually accepting myself as trans and ace.
Pride month is a vibrant celebration of the LGBTQ+ community, encouraging individuals to embrace their authentic selves. The journey of self-discovery is often filled with challenges, particularly for those navigating complex identities such as being non-binary or asexual. For many, including trans and ace individuals, Pride serves as a reminder of the importance of representation and visibility in society. Let’s extend our appreciation to all those who struggled to fit in during their formative years. To those who leaned into societal expectations due to fear or necessity, it’s essential to recognize that everyone’s path is unique and influenced by various external factors. The significance of sharing stories within our community cannot be overstated; it cultivates understanding, empathy, and solidarity. Amidst the festivities, it is vital to acknowledge the intersectionality within the community.
