I waited 48 hours before buying these shoes… 🫶

I’ve been needing new walking shoes and so I decided to look at famous footwear! I really liked the shoes pictured but they didn’t have my size and I also wanted to keep shopping around so I wanted 2 days before making a decision.

After I waited, I checked out Nike and they had the same shoes for $72! So I saved $20 just by waiting around looking at my options!

It’s always worth doing the 48 hour waiting rule for shopping!

... Read moreWaiting before making a purchase is a powerful strategy that can help you save money and make more thoughtful decisions. In this case, waiting 48 hours before buying walking shoes made a significant difference. By initially considering the shoes at Famous Footwear for $94, and then checking Nike’s website after two days to find the same shoes priced at $72, a $20 saving was achieved simply by comparing prices and not rushing. This approach can be applied to many types of purchases. A 48-hour waiting period allows time to research, compare options, and avoid impulse buys—one of the biggest financial pitfalls. It encourages shoppers to be more intentional, weighing the value and necessity of the product. The '48-hour rule' is particularly useful for mid to high-priced items like shoes, electronics, or home goods. Additionally, when shopping for shoes, it’s important to consider sizing and availability. As in this example, the shoes weren’t available in the desired size at Famous Footwear, which prompted the wait and further searching. This delay can be beneficial beyond just pricing—sometimes better quality or deals are discovered by being patient. For those living in or near areas like Wisconsin—or anywhere really—taking time to explore local stores and online retailers can uncover major savings. Using online platforms to check for better deals after a brief pause can prevent buyer’s remorse and add financial efficiency. Finally, habits like these contribute to overall money management and smarter spending. Following hashtags like #moneyhabits or #Deals can also keep one informed about current discounts and community advice. Ultimately, waiting before buying can be a simple yet effective way to save money, avoid overspending, and make better shopping choices.

Sometimes I also do this to see if I forget about the item. If I forget about the item later that day or the next day then it would have been an impulse purchase. If I keep thinking about it then I’ll get it
