Low GI foods and my opinion on them ✨
I love having low GI foods because they keep you fuller longer and keep your blood sugar in check. Here are just a few I love that are worth your money.
Coconut yogurt. I love having protein yogurt bowls in the morning. I mix this yogurt with a protein powder and it’s amazing. The texture of this one is like regular yogurt but a lighter taste which I love. Not heavy on the coconut flavor but very good. I only eat 1/4-1/2c to stay full. 10/10 flavor and taste.
Sweet potatoes. I’ve discovered that Costco has the best tasting sweet potatoes I don’t know what it is about them they cook amazingly and taste so sweet. One potato is less than 150 calories and it only takes one or even half of one paired with chicken or beef to keep me full for at least three hours. 10/10 you need these in your life.
Oats: I love these oats! They’re mixed with flax and chia which are high in fiber so bonus! I like to sprinkle these on my yogurt bowls in the morning. I like this one because it has added dried berries for extra sweetness. The serving size is 1/2c 200 calories but you only need 1/4c with added protein to stay full. 10/10 flavor and fullness.
Applesauce. Apples are high in fiber. If you’re low in fiber for the day just take a couples bites of applesauce. I also like to feed my kids this because they also need fiber and they love the sweetness of it. I will make protein muffins with this too. 10/10
Incorporating low glycemic index (GI) foods into your daily routine can be a game changer for sustained energy and appetite control. From my personal experience, I find that starting the day with a protein-packed yogurt bowl using unsweetened cultured coconut yogurt mixed with protein powder provides a smooth texture with a subtle coconut flavor—not overpowering but pleasantly light. This combination keeps me satisfied throughout the morning without any energy crashes. Sweet potatoes are another staple in my low GI food list, especially the ones from Costco which tend to be sweet and cook wonderfully. A half or whole sweet potato paired with lean protein like chicken or beef keeps me fueled for about three hours—perfect for long workdays or active weekends. Plus, their moderate calorie content and rich nutrient profile make them an excellent, satisfying choice. Oats that are enriched with flax and chia seeds take my yogurt bowls to another level. These seeds are excellent sources of fiber and omega-3 fatty acids, contributing to digestive health and heart wellness. The added dried berries bring natural sweetness that complements the subtle flavors without needing refined sugars. I usually consume a smaller portion with added protein, and it keeps me feeling full till lunchtime. When it comes to snacks, organic unsweetened applesauce from Trader Joe's has become a go-to for me and my kids. It’s a convenient fiber source and a sweet treat that fits well into a busy lifestyle. I also experiment by using applesauce in baking, like protein muffins, which are both nutritious and delicious. Overall, focusing on low GI foods like these has helped me stabilize my blood sugar, avoid mid-day slumps, and eat more mindfully. These choices are also budget-friendly and easy to find in most grocery stores, making it simple to maintain a healthy and balanced diet. I'd recommend trying these foods gradually and observing how your body responds, as everyone’s digestion and satisfaction levels may differ.

I’m keeping an eye out for the protein oats. Those look really good!
