Grocery haul as a 26yr old STAHM in a calorie deficit🌺
I’m in a calorie deficit right now. I’m trying to lose fat but still gain muscle postpartum. Focusing on protein and Whole Foods is biggest thing! I went to Costco and here’s a few healthy items keeping me in a calorie deficit but in a tasty way!
chia pack: chia seeds are super good for weightloss and low in calories. Highly recommend these packs. They’re a super easy way to get some omegas in yet fill you up for a snack. 70cal per pack 2g protein
Pattie’s: low calorie high in protein. Love the taste of these! Not super sweet which I like! 2patties is 160 calories 14g protein!
Sourdough! Sourdough is so so good for you!! For 1/9 loaf it’s 130 calories 4g protein. Super filling yet low in calories for a bread. Love this one from Costco because you don’t need to freeze the loaves for them to stay fresh.
Steak: my favorite steak! Super easy to pop on the stove and get a 10 min dinner ready. Paired with chimichurri and rice/sweet potato! 3oz is 120 calories 19g protein.

As someone who has also navigated the challenges of postpartum weight management, I find that sticking to a calorie deficit while aiming for muscle gain requires smart food choices and preparation. Chia seeds, like the chia packs from Mamma Chia mentioned, are a fantastic addition to any diet. They offer not only omega-3 fatty acids but also prebiotic fiber that supports digestion and keeps you full longer. Incorporating these as a quick snack helped me avoid calorie-dense junk foods while maintaining energy. The protein patties, such as the organic maple chicken patties featured, are a convenient meal option. Their low calorie count paired with high protein content is perfect for building muscle while in a calorie deficit. I often paired them with leafy greens or a small portion of brown rice for a complete meal. Sourdough bread from Costco stands out as a great carb source. Its fermentation process makes it easier on digestion and gives a satisfying fullness with fewer calories than regular bread. I appreciated that the loaves stay fresh without freezing, cutting down on food waste. Including grass-fed steak as a quick stove-top meal adds valuable protein and essential nutrients like iron and B vitamins, aiding recovery and muscle synthesis postpartum. Pairing steak with chimichurri sauce and complex carbs like sweet potatoes or rice rounds out a balanced plate that’s easy and quick to prepare. Incorporating whole foods like these from reliable sources streamlines the grocery haul process. Tracking calories and macros while focusing on nutrient-dense options made my postpartum fitness journey more manageable and sustainable. For other stay-at-home moms looking to balance family life and health goals, I highly recommend stocking your kitchen with these versatile, tasty staples to support your calorie deficit and muscle-building efforts.
