Meet my horse

Introducing a horse like Poco Chips Ahoy brings so much joy and unique experiences into my life. At 27 years old, Poco is considered a senior horse, which means he has a wealth of experience but also requires special care to keep him happy and healthy. His breed, quarter horse, is renowned for versatility and agility, which really shines in his jumping and dressage disciplines. Watching him perform in hunter-show jumping is always thrilling because his careful technique and lively spirit make every round exciting. One of my favorite things about Poco is his quirky habit of licking his bowl—it's such a simple yet endearing behavior that reminds me of his unique personality. He’s a squebald in color, which is a beautiful mix of colors that can sometimes be hard to spell but really sets him apart visually. Caring for an older horse like Poco means regular vet check-ups and tailored nutrition; his favorite treat, the stud muffin, is not just a delight for him but a small reward for his hard work. Training for competitions at Lakeside Arena is a big part of our routine. The arena has a lovely community feel, and being around other competition ponies helps keep Poco motivated. He also has a presence on Instagram (@poco_chips_ahoy), where I share our journey — it’s a great way to connect with fellow horse enthusiasts and showcase his talents in both jumping and dressage. Having Poco as a companion horse has taught me patience, commitment, and the joy of building trust over many years.
