Fourth wing review (non spoiler)

Book Review

Book name: Fourth Wing 🗡️

Author: Rebecca Yarros

Genre: Romance / fantasy

My rating: 4.8 ⭐️

My review: Going into Fourth wing I wasn’t sure what to expect, reading about dragons and war colleges was something I was at first kind of iffy, I thought okay this can either be really good or really bad, once I got through the first few chapters I was hooked! In my opinion I think the banter between the Fmc and the Mmc is perfect, I loved the fact that there was balance between being serious and cracking jokes here and there really had me giggling, then when it came to the main plot was perfect in my opinion it was overall perfect balance between everything. And let’s not start with the tropes! Enemies to Lovers, friends to enemies, etc! Also the spice in this book was 🤌🏼 definitely can’t stop thinking about the book or the characters definitely recommended it actually was worth the hype it got!!

Comment down below some of your guys opinions 🫶🏼

... Read moreOkay, let's talk about the vibe of Fourth Wing beyond just the amazing story! I know a lot of you, like me, were drawn in by the stunning visuals before even opening the book. That Fourth Wing Rebecca Yarros book cover black dragon design is just iconic, right? The gold cover with black text and that fierce dragon illustration immediately tells you this isn't just any fantasy novel. And the tagline, 'FLY...OR DIE'—it perfectly sets the tone for the high stakes and intense action within. It’s perched on a grey, fluffy blanket in the OCR, which actually makes me think of cozy reading sessions, despite the book's intense content! Beyond the cover, the whole Fourth Wing aesthetic is just something else. It's this perfect blend of dark academia, gritty war-college realism, and epic fantasy. Think ancient stone buildings, the smell of dragon fire, worn leather, and the constant hum of danger. It’s an aesthetic that truly immerses you. When I think about trying to capture the essence of this book, I immediately picture what would go into a Fourth Wing collage. You'd have powerful dragons soaring, intense battle scenes, maybe some intricate maps of Basgiath War College, and definitely imagery representing the bond between rider and dragon. The color palette would be rich—deep golds, smoky grays, fiery reds, and stark blacks, reflecting the cover itself. And speaking of powerful elements, the idea of a rebellion relic Fourth Wing brings up so much about the world-building. While I won't spoil specifics, the book masterfully weaves in themes of history, hidden truths, and the weight of the past. There's this undercurrent of defiance and a fight against oppressive systems that makes the entire narrative feel incredibly urgent. The 'relic' aspect, or significant historical items, really grounds the fantasy in a way that makes you believe in its depth and complexity. It’s what makes the world feel lived-in and layered. Rebecca Yarros has truly crafted an unforgettable experience here. Her ability to build such an intricate world, filled with compelling characters, political intrigue, and breathtaking action, alongside that undeniable romantic tension, is just phenomenal. From the thrilling dragon battles to the intimate emotional moments, every detail contributes to a world that feels both dangerous and utterly captivating. It’s more than just a story; it’s an entire sensory journey that stays with you long after you've turned the final page. Seriously, if you're looking for a book that delivers on all fronts – from its striking visuals to its deep lore and passionate romance – this is it. It’s easy to see why it garnered so much hype!
