Normalize normal homes

Let’s talk about normal homes. I used to LOVE seeing perfectly clean, aesthetically pleasing homes of influencers. I would daydream about “someday”.

But I have kids. And two jobs. My homes purpose? To function. Someday, maybe I’ll have a clean house again. Or even an aesthetic. But for now? It’s serves as our home, where we…

Have endless laundry. Every room has a laundry basket. Even the kitchen. They’re always full. Whether clean or dirty, there’s always laundry. I hope to someday have a fixed up laundry space like I have saved on Pinterest and tik tok. However it serves its purpose just fine right now.

Yall I gave up trynna fix the pillows on my couch. I got three boys. I have pillow covers for each season so I can wash them better than the whole pillow. Also the middle of the back dips sooo bad because that’s where they always sit. Also my toddler landed on the baby mat and the looo snapped. Anybody know how to safely fix it or should I give up and get a new one?

Those Christmas figurines? It’s freaking April. They’ve been up since November. To be fair, we had a baby two days before Christmas. I’m lucky I got the rest of the Christmas decor down. Then again last year they were up until June because we forgot about them…

Also baby locks. On every cupboard. My toddler figure them out but we just had another baby so they stay. They’re so annoying though. Also I wish we could hang the potty seat literally anywhere else. I hate it there. Feels gross. I wash it religiously but still.

And finally. My favorite part of our house. The art wall. I’m so proud of my kids. And I want them to feel proud too. It’s chaotic and glorious and I’ve loved watching their skills improve 🥰🥰

... Read moreIn today’s fast-paced world, normal homes tell the story of real life filled with playful chaos. Every family's journey is unique, and the challenges faced— from laundry mountains to toddler-proofing— reflect the reality of parenthood. Acknowledging the mess can be liberating, providing a refreshing perspective on homemaking. Many parents find themselves in similar situations, where maintaining an Instagram-worthy home is far from attainable. Instead, a focus on functionality becomes paramount— creating spaces that serve families more than aesthetics. For instance, incorporating handy laundry solutions in accessible spaces allows for quick management, while adaptive decor helps in embracing changes as children grow. Investing in practical storage and organization can significantly ease daily life. Using multifunctional furniture, such as storage ottomans or shelving units that add both style and functionality, can help turn clutter into a more manageable setup. Moreover, engaging kids in maintaining their play areas can instill a sense of responsibility, cultivating habits that benefit the whole family. Additionally, personalized art walls celebrate creativity and serve as a constant reminder of family bonds, making the messiness worthwhile. Creating a space where children's artwork is displayed fosters pride and confidence, reminding families of their flourishing skills. Ultimately, finding balance in chaos leads to a more fulfilling and authentic home experience, promoting insights into what truly matters: love, joy, and togetherness.
