... Read moreIt's so exciting to think about where to travel next in the US! Like many of you, I've caught the travel bug and love exploring new places. Having had the chance to visit 13 states myself, I've definitely gathered some strong opinions on what makes a state a truly top-notch tourist destination. It’s always fun to look back at my 'States I've Been To' map and see how much of the US I’ve been lucky enough to highlight! My goal is to keep adding more yellow to that US map!
When I declared California as one of my absolute favorites, it was for good reason. Imagine driving down the Pacific Coast Highway, the ocean stretching endlessly beside you. Or spending a day immersed in the magic of Disneyland, feeling like a kid again. From the bustling energy of Los Angeles to the iconic Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, California offers such a diverse range of experiences. Whether you're into scenic beauty, vibrant city life, or delicious food, this state truly has it all for an unforgettable trip.
Then there's Florida, which for me, perfectly blends relaxation with adventure. The pristine, sunny beaches are an obvious draw – think crystal-clear waters and soft sand perfect for unwinding. But beyond the coast, you have the world-renowned theme parks in Orlando, bringing pure joy to millions. Experiencing the unique ecosystem of the Everglades or the vibrant Cuban culture in Miami adds even more layers to its appeal. It’s a fantastic choice if you’re looking for warmth, fun, and a bit of everything.
And who can forget New York? My heart just loves the energy of New York City. Walking through Times Square, catching a Broadway show, or simply exploring the unique neighborhoods like Greenwich Village or Brooklyn offers an unparalleled urban adventure. But let's not forget upstate New York, with its stunning Finger Lakes region and Adirondack Mountains, offering beautiful natural escapes. It’s a state that truly caters to both city slickers and nature lovers.
Colorado also holds a special place, with its breathtaking Rocky Mountains. If you’re an outdoor enthusiast, this state is a dream come true. Hiking, skiing, or just taking in the majestic views – it’s an incredible place to connect with nature and feel truly invigorated. These four states really earned those pink hearts on my graphic!
While California, Florida, New York, and Colorado are my personal top picks, I know many travelers also rave about states like Texas and Nevada, especially for their unique attractions. Texas, with its vast landscapes, rich history, and delicious BBQ, offers a distinctly American experience, from the Alamo to vibrant cities like Austin and Houston. Nevada, of course, is synonymous with the dazzling lights of Las Vegas, providing entertainment, dining, and nightlife like nowhere else. But beyond the Strip, you’ll find stunning natural wonders like Lake Tahoe and Valley of Fire State Park. These are definitely on my radar for deeper exploration!
When you're trying to decide 'where should I visit next,' think about what kind of experience you're craving. Are you looking for adventure, relaxation, cultural immersion, or perhaps a mix? Considering your interests, budget, and the time of year can really help narrow down the options. Every state has its own charm, and finding the perfect match makes all the difference for a memorable journey. What's on your travel bucket list?
