how I made my college decision

As acceptances are coming in, I wanted to talk about how I decided where I went to college.

Truthfully, when I was applying I thought I was going to end up somewhere completely different that I did, and a lot of factors played into this. The biggest thing was learning more about the specifics as far as the programs went, financial aid, and social events I decided I wanted to be involved in.

The best advice I have is to really look into the financial aid options and understand your situation, as this is really hard to have an idea on until the offer comes in.

Additionally, do not forget about the social elements. It is really hard to know what you want to do for the rest of your life and how to prepare for that, but it is easier to think about what you like to do, your hobbies, and lifestyle.

In addition to examining financial aid and academic programs, it's vital to consider your personal interests and hobbies. For instance, if you enjoy dance, research the dance clubs and activities available at each institution. Another critical aspect is the distance from home. Many students prefer a balance, where they can experience a new environment while still maintaining the option to return home when needed. Don't forget to look into scholarship opportunities, as these can significantly impact your decision-making process. Choosing the right college involves a holistic approach, taking into account your academic goals, social life, and financial situation, ensuring you find a place where you can thrive academically and personally.
